| Gum Paste Recipe |
Make gum paste for making beautiful flowers and decorative figures. Creative roses, flowers, daisies, lilies and more!!
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon of Wilton Gum-Tex
- 4 Cups sifted Confection’s sugar (1 lb)
- 1 heaping tablespoon Wilton Glucose
- 4 Tablespoons warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine Gum-Tex with 3 Cups of powder sugar. Make a well in the center and set aside.
- Combine water and Wilton Glucose in a glass measuring cup.
- Heat measuring cup on high for 30 seconds until mixture is clear.
- Pour into sell of sugar and Gum-Tex and mix until well blended. {it will be sticky and eventually be soft}
Notes
Wilton instructions say to place mixture in plastic bag and seal tightly. Let it rest at room temperature 8 hours or overnight.
Then knead remaining sugar 1 cup into gum paste when ready to use.
{I didn’t wait for 8 hours. Since I need to use it right away, it worked well after I kneaded the mixture plus the 1 cup of powder sugar}
As you work in the sugar, the gum paste will whiten and become softer.
It is very important to keep it covered to prevent from drying out.
You can add a little vegetable shortening to keep it soft and pliable.
